A recent study has shown that men with low levels of serum testosterone had a higher risk of prostate cancer than those with high serum testosterone. The study looked at 568 patients who were divided into two groups according to serum testosterone level. There are a number of factors that are associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer that include age, prostate volume, serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level and PSA density. Among these risk factors, low testosterone is the easiest to treat using natural hormone replacement therapy. In men low testosterone may also result in decreased muscular strength, energy, or libido and an increased risk of erectile dysfunction or depression.
